I'm officially done.

Tuesday, September 23, 2014

I started when I was 8 years old, because I had "too much energy", my mom said. I began to develop a love for track and field at that age. I wanted to be the fastest ever. I wanted to be like Marion Jones. Back then, that was a big dream of mine to become a "famous track athlete.  I'm far from famous, but I have gotten to sign lots of autographs... that's a little famous right? At the age of 14, I first represented my country Sweden and I've been ranked top 3 in the hurdles for 10 years. I have always had a passion for training and track and it will always be a part of who I am.

I have had lots of people ask me about track, so I am officially done competing competitively. I have been done since I came back from Sweden,  but I wanted to make it official for all of you who are still wondering. After such a successful season/year, I truly felt so good about being done. I achieved WAY more than I thought I could after having a baby.
I knew there would come a day where I had to make the decision, either to continue my career or to step off and fulfill my role as  wife/mother 100%.  I didn't even blink when I decided to be done, BUT it was sure hard to realize the fact that I was done competing. We train so hard to be able to compete, get those PR's, and achieve our goals. This doesn't compare to motherhood. Call me old school, but I love being a mother. Besides, having an energetic toddler gives me a good workout everyday haha.

I'm so happy that I got to spend 17 years in my club Hammarby. They are family to me. That is where I have gained my absolute best friends, and they will always be family to me.  Just because I am done competing, does not mean I am done training :)
I am excited for the opportunity I have to coach and help out at BYU and also do personal coaching. Life has been absolutely crazy lately, but I cannot wait for our next chapter.

Hahaha, the good ol' days! I believe this was 2005

We won the short medley relay 2006

He has always been such a good support!
This is how I celebrate, by attacking my coach :)

Regionals in Texas, my favorite outdoor place to compete at.

  1. I just tried to post earlier, just saying, I am so happy that you are happy to be done. It can be hard to let the individual competition go, but you will always have your memories (and records) to remember! These pictures are so fun too! That one of you jumping in the air is BEAST! You are seriously amazing Fati girl!
