Potty training!

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

Potty training is so fun... said no one ever! Before I tell you all about our adventure and what we did, know that YOU guys inspired me and gave me the best tips ever. So a huge THANK YOU to all of you who reached out.

I had been pushing off this moment for so long. I secretly was hoping that one day he would just stop using his diapers (like the stories you hear from other people). That obviously didn't happen, and I knew that I'd have to tackle the potty training monster. I don't easily get pressured by others, but it is easy as a mom to compare your child with others. I am fully aware that every child is different, they develop differently and that I had to be patient. I often heard "do it when he is ready", well how do I know he's actually ready?
I was told to read the "how to potty train in 3-days". So I did, and I totally believed I could do it. 7 months ago, we tried and we failed. After one day, there were more accidents than happy potty dances, I was so frustrated and thought to myself this isn't worth it. I still sucked it up because "I'm not a quitter", so the second day was still just as awful. He didn't get it, he didn't understand that he needed to tell me, hold his pee or not pee on the floor. I was devastated at first but quickly realized that things would be okay, I would just have to change his bum for a little longer. I pushed it off, I didn't want to try again, last time was just so painful on both our ends.
Last Thursday, Noah had other plans. He woke up and didn't want to wear his diaper, so quickly I suggested for him to use the potty (without pushing him). I also posted on Facebook for advice and a friend of mine suggested setting a timer every 15 min. Because, lets be honest who can remember what they did an hour ago?

Day 1
I didn't change our schedule at all, except the fact that he was running around the house naked. I was so nervous he would pee all over the place. We had some big boy undies for him with his favorite characters. I told him he could only wear them if he went potty like a big boy. I gave him lots of water/apple juice and I set the timer for 15 min. I asked him if he needed to potty, sometimes he'd say yes and sometimes no but either way I would take him to the potty and he would pee every single time. When he went potty we did our potty dance (it's pretty dang awesome) and I'd give him a treat! We had 3 accidents, and I consider that a success. I was so drained at the end of the day, I was in bed asleep by 9PM :)

Day 2
As soon as he woke up, I told him we needed to take his diaper off and put his big boy pants on (because he was a big boy now). He happily agreed and we went on with our day. This time I let him wear his undies and I did not force liquid on him. I set a timer for every 30min, but I didn't force him to go on the potty if he didn't need to. He would go potty about every hour, he also would tell me "mom, potty" which is a huge improvement from our last try. We stayed inside all day, I didn't dare to go out haha and he had one accident. I also would put a diaper on for nap and bedtime.

Day 3
We were finally at day 3, and I was SO ready to be done. He woke up and wanted his undies with Buzz Lightyear on them. He had gotten really good at holding his pee and only using the potty when he needed to, not just to get a treat haha. I tried to trust him and just let him tell me, or watch for cues (crossing his legs and bouncing up and down). He is such a boy and my anxiety levels would go up whenever he was really into doing something and I KNEW he needed to go. We didn't have any accidents and we even went to costco for 1.5h! I didn't use the timer, I checked on him every hour to see if he needed to go. At the end of this day, I couldn't believe that we actually did it. NOAH did it, he went to the potty every time and let us know. I was so proud of him.

Today is day 6, and he is fully potty trained! HOORAY! I highly recommend doing the 3 day potty training, BUT I think you should do it if your child is ready. I am no expert, heck I just did whatever y'all told me to do. I had a lot of people asking me what we did exactly, so I figured I would let you know and hopefully this will help at least one of you. I know accidents will happen, he is no perfect child, but I am one proud mommy. It took a LOT of patience and commitment, you guys encouraged me to keep going so THANK YOU. I will encourage you who's pushing this off, once you've committed DO NOT QUIT (easier said than done). It's hard, I'm not even going to pretend it was easy! If we could do it, so can you :) Also, allow yourself lots of treats because you deserve it too!

Accessories- The Bennet house

Thursday, October 1, 2015

"...God didn't design us to be sad. He created us to have joy! So if we trust Him, He will help us to notice the good, bright, hopeful things of life. And, sure enough, the world will become brighter." Dieter F. Uctdorf

Girls, we both know that we have SO many accessories to complement our looks. I'm not really into those big headbands for little ones or the bold statements. Even though it works for other people thats just not my style. When I was introduced to The Bennet House, I instantly knew I was going to like their items. The baby headband that Olivia is wearing is so simple and I love the heart details. Its a headband that can be worn with any outfit. Their bands can be made in any of the fabrics available on their site upon request. Marisa, the owner is very flexible and so nice to customize when needed. The headbands can be washed and air-dried and they are made in a smoke free environment.
I got two wire rings, the bridesmaid pearl ring here and the bridesmaid knot ring here. Like I said, simple but they stand out. I absolutely love them, and I wish I knew about her shop when I got married. What a cute way to ask a friend to be a bridesmaid? I think these wire rings would be the perfect gift for a close friend, sister or mother/mother in law. The rings can be made in any size upon request as well and you can customize your order with a variety of beads and pearls! You should definitely check out her etsy shop!

Summer break!

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

Its been awhile since I blogged! I officially feel like I'm in the groove now. I've got a good routine down and I have some new friends, YAAY!! We have been so fortunate to be in an awesome ward. There are lots of families like us with kids the same age as Noah! Playdates have been my saving grace :)
While most people are now getting ready for fall to peek in, we are still embracing this 100 plus degrees. I can't even believe I thought Utah was hot during the summer! Now, that seems like nothing.   Ben finally has a break, so we can have him and will enjoy every minute with him around. Major props to all you single parents out there, seriously this job is HARD!!! Anyways, we are really starting to like Arizona and feeling more "at home".
This outfit is all forever21, Ben actually picked out the items...he did pretty good right!?
My diaper bag is from fawn design, it also comes in black! I got picked to be an enthusiast and I absolutely LOVE my bag. I get compliments on it everywhere I go :)
It is super roomy, I can fit everything I need in it! It is so fashionable, works with any outfit and the leather is so nice. I love that you can choose to wear it as a backpack or strapped. I'm probably going to do a "what's in my diaper bag post" soon. If you're looking for a diaper bag, I would highly recommend it.

Also, I changed my blogname...how do y'all like it?

Sleep is prime- dock a tot!

Monday, July 20, 2015

Sleep deprivation is serious with a newborn! I swear, everyday there's some new method on how to get your newborn to sleep through the night, or how to get your newborn to sleep longer. Fortunately, Liv has been a pretty good sleeper so far (knock on wood) but she prefers to sleep on her belly. A lot of you may think that's totally fine, but it stresses me out a little. The paranoia in me wants to check her every 5 minutes.
When I got contacted by Dock A Tot , I was beyond excited! I was even more excited to find out that they were from Sweden!! As I learned about their product, I immediately imagined it helping Liv to sleep on her back. I was right, it sure did! I put her in it for naps and she sleeps great in it. The dock is great in other ways as well; tummy time, play time,  lounging, you name it! The material is absolutely amazing, breathable, soft, the cushion keeps her nice and snug. They have two different sizes, I chose the "grand dock so safari". With the grand size, she will be able to use it up to 36 months, even Noah will sometimes lay in it. They also have the deluxe size, which is 0-8 months. This is great if you choose to rather have your baby sleep in the dock as a newborn. If not, it is a great to use to transition into a toddler bed.
Not only is it stylish, but oh so comfy for your baby. I absolutely recommend this dock for your baby, it will help with sleep, tummy time and snuggles. It is so convenient because it is easily transportable, so much easier than a pack n' play. The cover is washable and easy to put on/off.
Head over to my instagram, because I am giving one away to a lucky winner!! In the mean time learn more about the dock a tot here . I hope you all have an amazing week!

Bath time with NUBY!

Thursday, April 9, 2015

Noah has always been a water lover, ever since he was a newborn. I never knew how much of a difference bath toys would be until we got these foam animal characters! Now don't get me wrong he has a couple of toys but not quite as fun as these ones. He asks for bath time, ALL THE TIME!  He loves them and has so much fun in the bath. I just love watching him name all the animals and the different shapes. Another fun part, when the foam animals get wet, they stick to the walls. You can make it a pretty fun game with your littles. The sea scooper is perfect, because once he is done playing he just scoops the toys in it and then hangs it up to dry.
If you don't own this already, you need to asap.

Best things about the Sea scooper:

- Fun and interactive

Camo leggings- featuring Agnes & Dora!

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

Pictures  of me and Noah taken by Cecilia (DearestLou)

Cecilia and I went to Utah lake and took some pictures with our boys in our matching camo leggings. They are from Agnes and Dora, who have lots of different kinds for both kids and adults. By now, you guys probably know my obsession with camo, so I was thrilled to receive these tights. Not only are they comfortable, but also super stretchy.
